Board of Directors Staff

Better Homes, Inc. was originally started and funded by the business community through the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce in the late 1960's as a non-profit corporation to stimulate housing development for low/moderate income individuals and families in the Greater Springfield area. We are a multi-service housing organization. We are a community minded organization, with a goal of providing descent, affordable housing to low and moderate income families. We consider ourselves to be sensitive to the needs within the community and to work to improve the community's housing. Though primarily involved in the rehabilitation of poorly maintained two to six-family structures for rental, we are likewise able to do renovation for owner-occupied affordable housing. We are socially conscious and seek to assist residents with referrals to Social Service Agencies, when that is needed.   Better Homes, Inc. is a 501(C)3 corporation, has a Board of Directors made up of community and business leaders from the Greater Springfield area. Better Homes has provided technical and financial assistance to many non-profit groups to facilitate development of multi-family housing for low to moderate income families using various federal and state housing assistance programs. Better Homes is the owner of over one hundred (100) affordable housing units in the City of Springfield and a general partner in 104 additional affordable housing units.
