Exciting things are happening at Home City this summer!
So much, in fact, that our website needs a total renovation. While we work on that, we wanted to let you know what is going on.
- As of July 1, 2016 all property management responsibilities are shifted over to a new partner, Housing Management Resources, Inc. This private firm has a strong commitment to high quality, resident-centered professional management. Although based in Quincy, many of the senior staff are residents of the Pioneer Valley and have worked with Home City and other local agencies for many years. Most of the Home City staff transitioned over to HMR, so you will still recognize most of the faces in the office. Phone numbers will remain unchanged. Email addresses for HMR staff will eventually change, but folks will get plenty of notice.
- Those of us not working in property management have several projects in the development pipeline. We are preparing to close on the financing and substantial renovation of 75 units of existing affordable housing in the Bay Area Neighborhood. Building on some of the prior development work of long-time Springfield resident, E. Henry Twiggs, we will be bringing substantial resources to the community, including a new Community Building. Watch here for news on this wonderful new addition to Mason Square.
- As if this was not enough excitement, we are also moving our offices to a new address. As of August 3 rd , we will no longer be found at 5 Northampton Avenue, but rather, at 261 Oak Grove Avenue, right across the street from the planned Community Building.
Later this Fall we will unveil a major new initiative in Resident Engagement, building on and expanding our work in workforce readiness, youth development and financial independence.Stay tuned for more on this exciting new development at Home City Housing!

Home City Housing is a multi-service housing organization that develops and operates multi-family rental properties in the Greater Springfield, Massachusetts area. We currently own 423 units in Springfield and Northampton. We also provide
technical assistance to non-profit groups to facilitate the development of affordable housing using various federal and state housing assistance programs.
Founded in 1968, Home City Housing is sensitive to the needs of the Greater
Springfield community, seeking to improve its housing stock, while serving
the needs of vulnerable populations such as mentally ill and chronically homeless persons. We assist residents with accessing supportive services such as fuel assistance, mediation, case management, and programs for children and families.
